The Paris Art World in History and Now

A brief presentation of Paris as one of the great art centers of history beginning in the 18th century but focussing particularly on the modern period, the 19th and 20th centuries.

We will evoke the geography of artistic activity in the city and its evolution, present the major private and institutional players, the salons, art fairs, auction houses,  art galleries and artistic neighborhoods. We will conclude on the current situation and the city’s future possibilities as a major cultural and artistic international center in comparison with other world cities.
